America - a postal art project

In march of 2025…

I visited a special exhibit of global visual poetry as part of the 2025 Jubilee year in the Vatican. I was especially inspired by the Arte Correo and Fluxus movements – experiments in bringing word and art together to keep us connected as humans, sometimes using postal mail to remind one another of our ability to communicate under tyranny.

In that tradition, I’ve been mailing out excerpts from poems about America, beginning with Allen Ginsberg’s classic, “America”. People can keep the cards, pitch them, mail them to someone else, or leave them somewhere for someone else to find, hopefully spreading the spirit of creativity, humanity, and connection.
